Well, to begin with the position is brand new for us, meaning you will have the possibility to shape the role. It’s also a great opportunity since you, together with the Vehicle Automation Purchasing Team, will be located in our newly built CampX in Gothenburg, our ecosystem for the development of connectivity, electromobility and vehicle automation solutions within the whole Volvo Group. Working at CampX will mean close cooperation with both internal and external stakeholders, from engineering to suppliers/partners – which definitely means cross-functional learning and a truly opportunity to think outside of the box and be innovative.

You will belong to the Vehicle Electrical & Electronics Europe department, and our new team Vehicle Automation Purchasing. In our fast changing world, where the transport solutions industry is disrupted by some key society and technology trends – we believe this team is very important.
The Vehicle Automation arena is an extremely dynamic one with new players arising every day, from the traditional automotive ones to the software-based start-ups. The Purchasing function needs to be on top of this game by scouting and selecting new partners worldwide, capturing innovation that will bring value to our customers and developing new ways of working both with partners and with our internal stakeholders.
What will be your mission?
As Senior Buyer for Automation focusing on Electronics you will identify the most critical cost and productivity initiatives for existing and new products, and help Electrical and Electronics teams identify collaboration/negotiation points with suppliers, thereby supporting productivity and cost targets.
Main Responsibilities
  • Drive the day-to-day work of purchasing activities connected to the Electronics area within Vehicle Automation
  • Lead the development of the Electronics segment connected to the Vehicle Automation Journey, meaning being innovative in finding suitable suppliers and the best ways of working
  • Provide expert knowledge on the Electronics area to internal and external partners and other stakeholders
Who are you?
Most important to us is that you have experience of working with electronics from a business perspective. It could be for purchasing, but also sales or similar relevant area. That you have experience of adapting quickly and like to challenge current ways of working is also important since that is what the job is built upon.
More than this, it is important to have excellent communication and relationship skills. You need to be good at working cross-functionally and to build strong relationships with counterparts, as this job will be performed together with both internal and external partners and stakeholders.
